While many pro-lifers across the nation mourned the 40th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion, a pro-choice group put out a disturbing ad celebrating the occasion.
“To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade we didn’t buy a ruby. Instead, the Center for Reproductive Rights asked Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood) … to prepare a special video message just for you,” the video description explains.
“Oh, hey, baby,” Brooks says in a seductive tone. “Did you think I forgot? I didn’t forget. How could I ever forget our anniversary? They’ve been trying to tear us apart, take you away, put limits on you, on me, on us.”
Jonah Goldberg, editor-at-large of National Review Online, told Fox News he thought the ad was “absolutely repugnant and political counterproductive and grotesque.”
He continued: “Because basically what they’re doing is trying to make it into some sort of late-night joke about what a lot of people consider to be mass murder. And that is disgusting.”
African-American Ryan Bomberger, who runs the Radiance Foundation, said this about the video: “The Center for Reproductive Rights, like Planned Parenthood, certainly understands its main demographic. ‘Happy 40th Anniversary, Baby’ ironically uses a man (who is normally treated as persona non grata) to pitch abortion.
“The fact that they use a black man just screams irony … with the black abortion rate as high as it is and black fathers as absent as they are, it’s just sick to see Mehcad Brooks shill for the No. 1 killer in the black community, and the killer of 55 million plus since ’73.”
Brooks is facing widespread criticism about his appearance in the video, and many people took to Twitter to voice their opinion.
“Seriously, what was Mehcad Brooks thinking when he taped that abortion ad? I hope he comes out and says he didn’t know what it truly was,” one user wrote Wednesday.
Catholic author David Gray tweeted, “True Blood Actor Mehcad Brooks brilliantly impersonates Satan in Pro-Abortion Video.”
Another Twitter user said, “I don’t know what @MehcadBrooks was thinking, but he should be ashamed of himself. Who toasts to dead babies?”
Even abortion supporters found the video to be in poor taste.
“Ugh, foul! I am #prochoice, but abortion would b a serious decision 4 someone 2 have 2 make, not a cause 4 celebration!,” one tweet read.

And then if a baby actually survives a botched abortion, the baby is left in a room to die of exposure.
Lyn, thank you for exposing the evil that is abortion. This has to be one of the sickest things I have ever seen. Our President has led the charge on this holocaust. He voted multiple times against born-alive legislation. Our nation is polluted with the blood of the innocents.
Amen. Yes, our President is very pro abortion..to say the least. Very, very sad. And you’re welcome. God bless you, Scott.
