Jeremiah 31:15 and Newtown,Connecticut: What else do they have in common?

Interesting, I was reading in the Bible and happened to look up Ramah:

This is what the LORD says: “A cry is heard in Ramah–deep anguish and bitter
weeping. Rachel weeps for her children, refusing to be comforted–for her
children are gone.”

I discovered that there is a Jewish establishment in Connecticut, one hour away from Newtown, called Ramah, in East Hampton, CT.

Though it is one hour away, could this verse be somewhat prophetic?  Just a quick, interesting thing I wanted to share I just discovered.

And as another side note, the town Ramah is in provided a lot of support…more than anyone else, to the people of Sandyhook.  Came across that in the search too.  We all have felt and do feel their pain, but the town where Ramah is was right on it…overboard helping them.

Again, I just thought it was noteworthy and quite interesting!  -Lyn Leahz

History of Ramah|SOURCE

During the  1940s, The Jewish Theological Seminary established several programs to  reconnect Jewish youth with the synagogue and cultivate American-born Jewish  leadership. One of these programs was Camp Ramah, a program conceived by Moshe  Davis and Sylvia Ettenberg of the JTS Teachers’ Institute. The first Ramah camp  opened in Conover, WI, in 1947. Over the course of the next twenty-five  years, a network of resident camps was established, so that today, in addition to Camp Ramah  in Wisconsin, there are Ramah camps in Lakewood, PA (Camp Ramah in the Poconos, founded in 1950); Palmer, MA (Camp Ramah in New England, which opened at East Hampton, CT in 1953 and moved to the  Palmer site in 1965); Ojai, CA (Camp Ramah in California, founded in 1956); Utterson, ON (Camp Ramah in Canada, founded in 1960); and Wingdale, NY (Camp Ramah in  the Berkshires, which opened in Nyack, NY, in 1961 and moved to the Wingdale site in 1964). In 1997, Ramah opened   Ramah Darom, in  Clayton, GA, and in 2010, Ramah opened its first specialty camp, Ramah Outdoor Adventure in Deckers, CO.In addition to these overnight camps, Ramah operates Ramah Programs  in Israel and day camps in the Philadelphia  area, in Nyack, NY, and  in Chicago.More than 9,000 campers and staff annually attend  Ramah’s seven overnight camps, three day camps, and Israel programs. More than  1,500 university and graduate students work as counselors, teachers, and  specialists, along with an additional 200 professionals–rabbis,  cantors, social workers, psychologists, doctors, nurses, Jewish educators,  coaches, and others. Approximately 45 rabbinical, cantorial, education and  other graduate students from JTS, as well as others from AJU and other  universities, work at Ramah in senior educational roles. More than 200  mishlachat members work at Ramah camps each summer, strengthening the  connections between the camp communities and Israel.

  1. This is the first time I have ever heard of these camps and you would think that with so many, there would have been at least some mention of them???
I don’t know, but I do believe that we are reminded in many different ways of biblical history in order to bring our attention “focus” back to even the basics of biblical truths. I’m not implying YHVH allowed these children to die for this hard lesson, but, he does use tragedies to remind us of where he stands within our lives if that makes sense?
On another note. I am reading many Christians asking YHVH why he allowed this heinous crime to happen to our babies, it upsets me that they still don’t get it. We have a free will, all of us, the good, the bad and the ugly all have a free will, he cannot interfere in even one decision, to do so he would be breaking his promise.
It’s an unfortunate price we have to pay for our freedoms of choices to choose either his saving graces and goodness, over that of damnation and evil, even the innocent get caught up in the evils of this world and my hopes are that Christians start recognizes this very simple truth, YHVH does not allow these things to happen, he has to allow them to happen, he wants us to live long and productive lives… But he promised us all a free will…
But, he is there always however, to comfort us and to see us through the pain of these evil acts…

    • I see what you are saying..but in turn…how many children die every year from abortion? And many of them suffer brutal deaths. Why is America, and the world, not suffering emotionally over the millions of unborn who die? Or the millions who die over the years as a result of abuse or neglect, or from natural disasters, or war? There is countless amounts of blood crying out to God of children. So the question shouldn’t necessariliy be focused solely on the children of Newtown; rather, why do any children suffer, since the fall of man? Why? THe one’s Herod destroyed, the ones the Pharoah killed….so many, many children.

The answer is this, at least, this is what God told me when I went to him about all of this and admitted I was angry with Him: He said to me that the reason innocent people and children suffer is because the flesh, since the fall of man, is corrupt in every way and belongs to Satan. The spirit belongs to God (except for the unsaved people…but all children go back to Him, of course). But until Satan is defeated once and for all, ultimately, it is death that comes for our physical bodies. Christ defeated spiritual death on the cross…but Satan still holds the keys to physical death and suffering. Now if Satan interferes with God’s plan, and it is not God’s time, then God will intervene. Physical death means more to us than it does to God because He focuses on the eternal person, where we focus on the temporal (because this is, truly, all that we really know and can identify with.) Suffering and death is by far more bothersome and horrible to us than what it is to God.

He ultimately cares more about the eternal soul than He does the flesh…why? Because ALL flesh will at some point die. However, the soul will either live forever in hell, or heaven. So if the death of one, or two, or three, etc. brings about repentance and salvation, thus, saving a soul or souls from the flames of hell, then God will allow it.

We will never, ever understand because our minds can only imagine and understand so much..our brains are flesh and we will only realize and understand what God allows. We just have to trust Him.

      • Well said and I have to admit that I will have to rethink or calibrate some of what I believe to be true. Your absolutely right about the flesh and YHVH’s concern for the soul and spiritual aspect of man… You’ve made a very valid point here… :)

        • No, I didn’t. God told me that. I was lying on the couch crying and I said, “God, I’m upset with you! No, you want us to be honest….I am mad at you! How could you? Where were your angels? What’s the point of angels anyways if they do nothing?” I was soooo mad at God! This was a few weeks prior when the mom stabbed her 7 year old boy 100 times with a knife and cut his throat, and then did the same to a little 5 year old girl she was baby sitting, except fifty times, and cut her throat. That is when I said that. Then, after the Newtown thingy, I said the same thing again.. I said, “God..you already know! I’m mad at you again! i”m sorry, I know you have your ways..but I am so upset! How could you?” Again, He told me the same thing, except He explained it better. I even asked Him, “Well, if that’s true and You are really speaking to me, what about aborted babies? Why?” He said the same thing…flesh being corrupt, the soul returning to Him. I said, “Well, then what’s the point of sending those spirits here if you know they will be killed?” He said, “For many reasons..from leading the woman who did it to God through conviction and emotional agonay, to judging the people who perform the gross act…the more blood on their hands, the more harsh the judgment.”

      • No, No, I understand what your saying and I believe you have been shown the truth here and have done a great job relaying it to us. It’s caused me to pause and reflect on this very subject…. I am a deeply receptive Christian and know how our father works through us, those of us who are receptive to him and who listen for his instruction on matters…I give our father full credit for this, but you must also accept the credit for being so faithful and too, receptive to his guidance and instruction, it would have gone no where had you not believed in what he was telling you or your questioning him…
        LOL,
I believe there are a lot that factors into what is being allowed or what must be allowed to happen around us. I believe that our free will factors into that and your sharing this with us, I believe, is yet another piece of that puzzle to understanding why these horrors are being allowed to rob us of our precious lives…
Mankind are inherently evil and corrupted, and whether we are evil or good, we have choices to make that will determine whether our eternal lives are spent in heaven or hell and that the punishment we bare will reflect on our uncleanness and sinful actions here on earth in denying Christ salvation and his being our personal savior….The greater the sins, the harsher the punishment, Dante’s Inferno so to speak…
There are many who are given over to a reprobate mind, eventually mankind will be turned over to his and hers sinful nature and are totally blinded to any truth, to any existence of YHVH and there are billions of them, and many are killing our precious children today and it will get worse..
I agree that the eternal soul is far more precious and more important than that of the physical being “flesh”, being that we are doomed to a physical death any way, it is after all a temporary body, a much improved and newer body is on the way…It’s why I am so adamant about our focusing on the lost instead of worrying selfishly about our specialness here on earth or what role we play as Christians, serving each other is of the most importance and we keep over looking that fact, but we are also charged to seek out the lost…That tells me the soul is of the most importance, something I have always believed were true, you just happen to pass on YHVH’s instruction as to why that must happen and why so many are given over to the unthinkable crime of murder, something that we have such a hard time explaining to non believers and to our younger Christians, even the elders of us have trouble explaining why these deaths and murders are allowed and why they must take place…
You’ve done a great job relaying that, Thank You…
