As I sit and listen to this song, I am brought to tears for some reason as I reflect on all the loved ones lost since childhood, as well as the ones who never got to really live a full life because it was taken from them only a week ago. Yes, they come to my mind the most as I listen to the haunting lyrics and music of this famous, old Christmas song. Especially in the parts that say, “Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore…” “Through the years, we all will be together, if the fates allow…”
