From my experience it is often women who demand the right to have an abortion, although there are many who are opposed to doing so, and it seems that men often go along with what the woman wants in this. There must be, if people do not unite for or against this, strict rules about abuse of this. I think it has to be the popular will of the people first to make the leaders follow their will. I think that if a politician is opposed in principle to abortion, it would encounter much opposition, so would have to be introduced in a way broadly accepted by the public, It would be a humanitarian gesture, not a “control by the state limitation.” I wish that the pro-lifers would do more to address the social and economic issues that many women who have abortions live with. I do appreciate organizations like Birthright who provide assistance to pregnant women. I agree that Romney would have had a more pro-life position than Obama, ( and still can). I think any child who is viable outside the womb should be considered a full person, at the least, where abortion is concerned. Society would have a more respectful attitude toward humanity as a whole with this. Abortion is a part of the whole, in many ways we could be doing better in caring for ourselves and the earth as a whole.
