A respected Southern Baptist pastor and author says “wimpy” pastors and laypersons are the reason Christians are losing the culture war.
Why are many Christian leaders silent when religious freedom comes under attack? That question was raised Tuesday evening by Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly and posed to Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas and author of How Can I Know: Answers to Life’s 7 Most Important Questions.
“I think one reason is a lot of Christian leaders have the wrong idea about Jesus,” Jeffress replied when asked the question. “They see Jesus as this little, wimpy guy who walked around plucking daisies and eating birdseed and saying nice things, but never doing anything controversial. The fact is, Jesus did confront his culture with truth — and he ended up being crucified because of it.”
The Dallas pastor chastised pastors who shy away from controversy.
“Wimpy pastors produce wimpy Christians — and that is why we are losing this culture war,” he emphasized.
“I believe it’s time for pastors to say, You know, I don’t care about controversy, I don’t care whether I’m going to lose church members, I don’t care about building a big church. I’m going to stand for truth regardless of what happens.”
Jeffress — who also reprimanded school districts and elected officials for caving in — contends secularists are going to take over if pastors and Christians continue to refuse to stand up and wage the necessary battle to secure their constitutional rights.

Pastor: ‘Wimpy’ won’t cut it in culture war
All I can say is if you sit in a church where they talk about social justice run just as fast and far as you can.
Amen. You’ve got that right. And, thanks for the reblog. We need to spread the truth around.
Teach the Word of God…ALL of the Word of God. Do NOT add to it either. I have written about this a lot, this is one of the primary reasons for the decay of the church today is incorrect preaching. The first reason being not placing the worship and glorification of God first above all other things including teaching.
Bring it on Pastor Jeffress…
The ‘war’ Jesus had with anyone was with the religious…who dealt with people with the strictness of the law which just burdened people…or those who used the church as a way to make money….or who tried to keep Him from being with the hated and outcast and the children. Any ‘war’ with the culture was always for the benefit of the outcast, the poor and the hated….as He taught by example how obeying the new commandment was the new way of obeying the law.
I think the ‘wimps’ are those who try with all their arguments, to sidestep the new commandment…as the carnal nature loves to fight right along side the devil….he loves division and keeping us from obeying God’s commend God’s way. The devil loves for us to get our eyes on ourselves and our ‘rights’ which keeps our lights dim…when however, we have been crucified with Christ….so, now we walk in His steps and love those He loved so as to bring them to the only one that can save.

Yes I agree. Jesus always defended the those that needed it, while railing against those of the Pharasiacal mindset.
The modern day application is much different and yet the same. We have the secular folks that do not understand, those that hate us who believe, and then we have those who are in the church, but have not a clue as to what the church is really all about.
The people who fill a seat and so fulfill their civic duty, Sunday Christians. The prosperity gospel teachers preying on those looking for genie in a bottle. And of course those who twist the gospel to suit their needs.
Yes it is a tough world out there, and poor teaching makes it worse…but that is what the people seem to want, not the truth.
To bad…
Modern day application? Hmmm… I see that there are only really two kinds of people, according to Jesus. The sinners…as they were not expected to be living right or to understand. So, Jesus loved them, ate with them, fed them,…as St. Paul said, ‘was all things to all people so as to win some’. Jesus knew that He came to die for them and to save them….and that the only way someone can understand spiritual things is to be regenerate.
The other group, the religious, those that were trying to twist and corrupt what Jesus was doing. The Pharisees would lay the heavy burdens of sin back on the people to deal with by the law, making God sound very unlike the God Jesus was presenting…as Jesus came to bear those sins for them. The religious would publically point out other’s sins, which at the same time would highlight their own ‘sanctity’. Then the disciples that would challenge Jesus when He’d want to spend time with sinners.
All in all Jesus made a very clear distinction that there were two groups…those who need salvation, and those who have it or think they have it, and are misrepresenting the Good News. People are the same. People who are needing salvation. Then those who have it or think they do are the ones Jesus got angry with…as they were the ones who got in the way of people coming to Him.
I would enjoy you coming over and visiting my blog….
Blessings!!

You are correct, but there are differing subgroups of people within the basic two that Jesus defined, the righteous and the unrighteous.
We need to know which “group” of people we are speaking to as this determines what approach to take when speaking to them concerning Christ.
Blessings

I will stop by later today!
There are also the cold, the hot, and the lukewarm! See what the Bible says about this group: Revelation 3:15, 16 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
I know which one I don’t want to be..and that is LUKEWARM! God bless.
1–Jesus is God in the flesh
♥♥♥
2–God says He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. God does not change.
3–The Bible is a whole living being..not in parts or segments. The Bible makes God’s judgment and hatred for SIN (not the sinner) very clear.
4–God does get angry with people for sinning..especially those who know better and have been saved.
5–The Bible says, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of heaven,” When we call on Jesus, we will make mistakes, but we are no longer to return to the life of sin by LIVING in them. If we still live our old lives, we are not truly saved. True salvation involves a change. You must look at the whole Bible on this..not just a part, btw. Salvation is more serious of a committment than marriage itself..and people aren’t taking it seriously. It is NOT a Get Out of Jail Free card.
6–Those who utilize scripture to conform to their own lifestyles, or speak ignorantly, having not STUDIED IT IN IT’S ENTIRITY but have leaned more on what they hear people saying…are in danger of spreading false doctrine. We are to not just take people’s words for it, but study it ourselves… “STUDY TO SHOW THYSELF APPROVED! A WORKMAN WHO NEEDN’T CORRECTION, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF GOD!”
7–There is therefore now no condemnation for those of us who are IN CHRIST JESUS. If you aren’t living, breathing, moving, and walking in Christ…you can say and do what you want, but there is condemnation. Must be IN HIM to NOT be condemned.
8–Just stating what the Bible says. Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
9–A great article on the Jesus the world is serving and the Jesus Christ we serve here. This might give you better insight about what we belive. I would suggest you read it. I think u would appreciate it. Thanks! http://lynleahz.com/2012/12/11/how-does-the-average-christian-of-today-see-jesus/
Thank you, but I am concerned that Christians are not taking the bible as it was given. I am concerned that Christians/religious are putting their own interpretations into scripture instead of what God intended. If I am unregenerate, then I cannot know truth from lie…therefore, as I said before Jesus was very concerned with bringing sinners to Himself…because nothing else will create in that person the ability to be righteous but Him. Nothing! The bible is clear too that the natural man not only can not understand the things of God, but that it is only capable on it’s own to produce corruption, therefore it cannot be trusted. Many in this generation of Christians want nonChristians to live like a Christian….so they are pushing and cajoling them to live a certain way…but Jesus didn’t do that. Obviously, if the KKK are being violent or intrusive, then I am gonna want to stop them….but generally speaking God wants us to make our primary goal to be Christ to the world. As Paul said, ‘I become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some.’
You mentioned lukewarmness…exactly! Yuck! Down with Wimpy! A non-lukewarm person is more concerned with God’s agenda much more than his own…therefore we have to realize that when God says commandment, that He means it…it is a command, not a request. He knows much more than we do…much much more. He knows much more about getting things done than we do…even when our natural man is apposed or uncomfortable. God’s number one ethic is the new commandment, which completely fulfills everything required of us. Yet many Christians want to add to it because it does not seem ‘right’ to them that doing this one command would fulfill ALL…but God says it does. It would be an amzing difference in our world if we actually lived up to the name Christian….which in the original meaning meant ‘little Christ”. Paul had very good explanations of what it means for us to follow Christ’s example….1 Cor. 9-11:1
If I may interject here, I agree with you completely. I think myself, Lyn, and you; we are all coming at the same thing different ways.
Like I said Jenny, I think you would appreciate the link I posted there for you…
God bless you and hope you’re having a good day! I love interjecting on conversations about luke warnness and perversions of the truth that goes on..I am so passionate about that..and it is one thing that aggrevates me so much! From what I gather, it irritates you as well.
