This post originated from: Move to Assurance
I had been invited to visit a home in a small village in India specifically to share the gospel. This was my first time sharing the gospel in India. I was nervous and uncertain about what I should say. I had studied India culture, but what if I made a mistake and unknowning offended someone.
I ducked low to enter the small home and was greeted by two women. A woman and her mother. I started to introduce myself, “Hello, my name is Steve and I’ve come from America…” I said. But I didn’t finish even my first sentence. The younger woman had started crying!
What had I done? How had I insulted her? I asked my translator to find out what the problem was. He said, “There is no problem. She just became a Christian.”
I hadn’t done or said anything. All I did was show up and God gave me the gift of seeing him save someone. It’s all about God. He saves, not us.
I prayed with the woman. She then asked me to tell her mother about Jesus. I shared the gospel with her and she also began to trust in Christ as her savior.
Most of the time I feel like I’m a seed planter. This time I was present for the harvest. I feel very blessed to have seen God working.
